Why staffing teams need it
Keyboard first users reach for a command bar constantly, and switching mental gears, from "now I'm searching" to "now I'm asking Copilot a question," to a totally different part of the interface breaks that habit. If the fastest way to ask Copilot something needs a different shortcut and a different screen, most people just won't bother, and a genuinely useful feature goes unused.
Catching a conversational query automatically removes that friction. The command bar becomes the one place to reach for, whether what you need is a client record or an answer.
How FreshStaff builds it
As you type, the command bar checks the query against a set of conversational patterns, question words, phrasing that reads like a request rather than a name or keyword, and when it matches, pins an "Ask Copilot" result at the very top of the list, ahead of ordinary navigation matches, so a single Enter keypress sends you straight there.
Choosing that result opens Copilot Chat with your exact query already filled in and sent, using the same pre-filled handoff FreshStaff already uses elsewhere in the app, not a new mechanism. Ordinary navigation and record search still work exactly like before. Smart mode just adds the one extra pinned option when it's actually relevant.

Open the command bar with its usual keyboard shortcut, from anywhere in the dashboard.

Start typing. A normal search still shows matching clients, jobs, and pages just like before.

If what you typed reads like a question or request, "Ask Copilot" shows up pinned at the top.

Press Enter or click it. Copilot Chat opens with your query already sent, answer waiting.
