Most "lead scoring" in sales tools is either missing or an AI number nobody can explain when a rep asks why one lead beats another. FreshStaff flips that around: four plain, understandable factors, what kind of business it is, how confident FreshStaff is in its location data, how close it is right now, and whether it shares a building with other leads, combine into one score a rep can actually reason about.
Why staffing teams need it
When a rep has a short window and a long list of possible stops, "who's actually worth visiting next" needs an answer that holds up when someone asks a follow up question. A black box AI score that can't explain itself doesn't help a rep decide, and it wears down trust in the tool the next time its ranking looks off.
A transparent score also lets a sales manager set expectations and coach reps using the same language the system uses, pointing at a specific factor, like "this one's close but low confidence, worth a quick call to confirm the address first," instead of arguing over a number.
How it works under the hood
Every score starts from the same four ingredients. A category weight (healthcare scores highest, then industrial, professional services, retail, with everything else at a baseline), a confidence weight based on the 0 to 5 location confidence score every company gets from geocoding, a proximity weight that drops off smoothly with distance from the rep's current position, and a flat bonus when a lead shares its exact coordinates with at least one other company, a real sign that it's part of a busier building or office park.
Those four numbers get added together and capped at 100. No hidden AI model, no outside scoring service involved, the whole calculation runs on the FreshStaff server in milliseconds using data FreshStaff already has for every client.
